F. A. Q.

Q: What is a fanzine?
A: A fanzine is an independently-published book that centers around a certain topic or piece of media. It is a collaborative effort between fans who share the same interest.
Q: What is the theme and rating of this zine?
A: This will be a general zine about the onmyoji and shikigami of Heian-Kyo, with a canon compliant setting. Due to the nature of the 8+ game itself, the zine will be rated PG-13.
Q: Are the onmyoji (eg. Seimei) allowed to be in this zine?
A: Of course.
Q: Is this zine for-profit or for charity?
A: This zine will be for-profit. All profits made will be split between the mod team and the contributors.
Q: How will contributors be compensated?
A: Contributors are at the very least guaranteed a digital PDF copy of the zine. We will try our best to compensate contributors with a copy of what they have worked on (ie: page artists and writers will receive a copy of the zine, merch artists will receive a copy of their merch). If sales permit, then everyone will receive a full bundle (physical zine + all merchandise). If sales go above and beyond, then the remaining profits will be split amongst the moderation team and contributors.
Q: Is this zine physical or digital?
A: Both physical and digital versions of the zine will be sold.
Q: What are the zine specifications? How many participants will be accepted?
A: The zine will be A5 (14.8cm x 21cm / 5.8in x 8.3in) and full-colour. Page count/number of participants will be determined based on the results of the interest check.
Q: Will ships be allowed in this zine?
A: As this is a general zine focusing on the cast of Onmyoji, explicit shipping (eg: kissing) will not be allowed. However, we will allow implied ships (eg: looking respectfully) to be depicted.
Q: I want to participate. How can I apply?
A: Please hop over to the APPLY page for contributor guidelines and application forms!
Q: How old do I have to be to participate?
A: Applicants must be at least 16 or older at the time of application. Minors must have a parent's/guardian's permission to participate.
Q: Do I need to have Onmyoji works in my portfolio to apply?
A: No. Onmyoji works are encouraged, but not required.
Q: How will character assignment work in this zine?
A: In the interest of maximising variety, each character will be assigned to a single contributor (repeats allowed across all three mediums). When the results of contributor applications are sent out, accepted contributors will be asked to list five characters they want to draw/write. Note that you are allowed to depict as many characters as you wish, provided that the assigned character remains a focus of the piece. Significant NPCs such as Yorimitsu and Michitsuna are allowable as focus characters. Non-RPG characters cannot be assigned as focus characters, but can be included as side characters. SP versions will be bundled together with their base versions.
We will do our best to give you a character assignment based on your preferences. Top choices are not guaranteed, but again, the team will do their best!Q: Will you be shipping internationally?
A: Shipping will be international unless COVID restrictions apply. Unfortunately, shipping to some destinations may not be available dependent upon the USPS's current suspensions. More updated information on affected areas can be found here.
Q: What is your policy in regards to the shipping preferences of contributors/applicants?
A: As this is a general Onmyoji zine, we will be considering applicants based on their ability to deliver a general piece. Due to our general focus, ship history or lack thereof will not be a factor in our judging as we do not expect our contributors to be producing such a piece.
If you find this policy unsatisfactory, or if you feel that the shipping preferences of other contributors will negatively impact your experience, we suggest you refrain from submitting an application. If you have already submitted an application, then you can withdraw by editing your form and entering "Withdrawn." in the comments section. If you don't see your question here, then please send a message to our CuriousCat! We'll get back to you as soon as we can.
